ABSTRACT:
The current Telecom Perfect Storm has tested out the reality of the emerging (Broadband) Metropolitan Network Industry. The "proven factors" driving the progression of Metro Operators have not been mainly because the technology ATM, xDSL, SONET (Packet-over-SONET), GigE/10-GigE, Fixed-wireless, etc.; More than ever, the proven critical success factors are dynamic bandwidth allocation, access topology/scheme, cost-effective resilience, and most importantly, the Service-creation-oriented OSS, etc. The testimony of Yipes, being the first nation-wide Managed Metro Network Operator and a thriving survivor of Telecom Perfect Storm, depicts the importance and issues of how to deploy the MAN/QoS-aware OSS by integrating the building blocks of distributed agents, DiffServ, VPN, policy-based provision, multi-tier SLA, XML, CORBA, etc. BIO:
